In the analogical age, the magnetic tape pre-recorded , has always been the nearest support to the original live execution.
Tapes in HD. What are – Why and how the digital acquisition of the music from the original tapes develops. In the analogical age, the magnetic tape pre-recorded , has always been the nearest support to the original live execution.
Insofar, doing some “ripping” of this support means to store, in digital, the greatest possible number of information.
In the files we propose, the ripping has been performed in the most direct way, trying to avoid any superfluous passage.
The source, for the 4 traces tapes, it is a Revox B77, properly set and where it was bypassed the last section of outputs regarding the regulation of the levels. The used cables, to conduct the signal from the recorder to the analogical input of the converter, are by Max Research’s. Their main characteristic is to have natural materials as soundproofing with the contact of copper , not in plastic, with important increases of quality
A card Heco has been used as a base to acquire the analogical signal where the feeding has been completely replaced with an analogical one by Max research , the same as the one used for Interface Reference. The choice of the frequency sampling, has considered the demand to have more information with the possibility to send great quantities of data through the web. Insofar, the value has been that one of 24dB 96KHz which allows a high quality with acceptable dimensions.
The digital signal has been acquired and stored on a Windows work station dedicated to the audio production. Also in this case, as for the converter, a particular attention to the feeding has been put, using a lot of feedings dedicated to the devices and to the main card. These devices allow to drastically lower the level of electrical noises influencing the final sound.
The result has been a sound superimposable to the original one, with the reference system, but with the possibility of fruition of the digital files. Once again it is confirmed that using all the electric devices and not, as well as in digital system, sound results are got and they are superimposable to the original analogical ones.
